Arbiter
One of the most important parts of the first notification of loss process is the capture of a full, detailed and relevant description of the incident, without which it is not possible to determine who is at fault and to what extent. Inevitably, this is often influenced by the caller’s emotions.
To address this, Dataforce has developed an intelligent, rules-based system called Arbiter, which automatically generates a description of the incident based on a series of questions and options which are presented in a logical manner. Once all questions – typically only 7 or so – have been answered, the system calculates liability and allocates a blame and cause code.
In support of each liability decision, Arbiter will also automatically attach all relevant legal references, including case law, extracts from the Highway Code, references to regulation or statute and hints and tips for investigating liability further in more complicated or unusual cases. The library of attachments contains approximately 600 individual documents which are variously linked to several hundred scenarios programmed at high level. There are tens of thousands of lower level variations that are capable of being produced by the application.
Arbiter is available via our cloud-hosted application portal and can additionally be integrated and rebranded within the principal’s own systems.
Benefits include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reduced leakage with no subjective decision making, driving consistency
- Instant and accurate decisions on liability – MOJ compliant
- Compliance with TCF, allowing real-time management of consumer expectations
- Accurate rules-based supply chain steerage at first notification
The soon to be released updated version of Arbiter includes embedded mapping functionality allowing the handler to pinpoint the precise location of the incident and zoom down to street level to verify the description.
